KIDS CAN LEARN BIG WORDS

Kids of all ages love Scribbles. I'm amazed actually. Some of them can't stop staring at the cover, let alone the rest of the book!

Kids not only learn a life long FUN game, but they also learn words like perspective, and perception. Start them young, art opens the doors to so many opportunities. Did you know that 50% of CEO's have an art degree? (At least that's what my painting professor told me.) And it doesn't surprise me. You have to be creative and think outside "the box" to get in that position and to do it successfully. Don't deny your child, GET SCRIBBLING!

Russian Friends!

That's me and my Dad, Wayne with one of our Russian Fans! It's great to know that we have fans all over the world! It also shows us that Scribbles is great for any age and any culture. It's all about creativity, and that leaps across cultural barriers!

Reactions!

Alot of kids like The Scribbles Book, and here are some of their reactions when first seeing the book!

- "WWOOOOW"

- "But I want to color."

- "How much is it?" Ran to parents

- "Can we get more than one??"

- Parent asking "Do you want one" Daughter "Shaking her head yes enthusiastically"

Those are only a few, I'm not sure if I can remember any more!

What was your first reaction to Scribbles?

New Friends!

As always we love when kids come over and say hi to us at the Scribbles booth at Gillian's Wonderland Pier, in Ocean City, NJ.

This time we had a gaggle of teenagers that wanted to give Scribbles a shot. They "booed" their good friend when she couldn't think of anything to draw. They also gave my dad, Wayne, a scribble and he "blew their mind" with his drawing!

Here's some of them scribbling and then posing for the camera! Thanks guys!!

The First Official Family Night

Last night was the first official family night on the Ocean City Boardwalk! What Fun!

We're lucky enough to have a sponsor, Gillian's Wonderland Pier, and we get to meet a lot of great people while we're sitting next to the Balloon Race, and the Merry-Go-Round. It's funny, I never knew how many tall/mid-30 guys like to ride the Merry-Go-Round. It didn't look like they were riding with any kids either. I thought that was an interesting nonetheless!

Most kids that walk by don't even need to look IN the book and they are ready to read it. This week we had our whole set up, personalized bags with Scribbles on them stuffed with business cards. Here's the table! (By the way, I can't believe I got so excited about the bags to give to people. Last week everyone that bought a book needed a bag)

And One More Picture for today, Our new friend Allyson, a proud owner of Scribbles!

Until Next Time, Keep on Scribbling!! - Leigh

Thursday Nights on the Ocean City Boardwalk

Gillian's Wonderland Pier is the official sponsor of The Scribbles Book!

So Thursday nights you can meet myself and my dad, the authors of Scribbles at Wonderland Pier from 6-10pm.

Last night was our second Family Night at Gillian's and we just want to thank everyone that supports us by buying the book and by stopping by to say hello to us!

It's funny, adults are curious when they walk by and don't really want to ask what the book is about but as soon as kids see it they just want to keep looking. Last night we had a little boy come up to the table and his parents said, "Let's Go" and with all of the fun going on around him, like the Merry-Go-Round, Swings, and all of the fun rides he said, "I want to color."

If you're still wondering what The Scribbles Book is all about, don't be afraid to stop by and ask us. We won't bite! I promise. :)

Just a side note, when you get a book at Gillian's you'll also receive colored pencils to start scribbling as soon as you get some paper!

On a Bus in England

I got on to a bus in England headed for castles with a few familiar faces and a few that I just met. Two were from France, one from Canada, a handful from the US like myself, and the rest were from the UK. They were all part of my church group so we had that in common but we still were getting to know each other. So there were lags in the convo, and a little looking around the bus trying to grab at a subject we could all talk about. On top of it, it was tough to converse while sitting on a bus in little seats spread out.

So I grabbed my handy notepad and pen out of my bag and explained to them a game called Scribbles. I did get some skeptical looks, and some "she's crazy" looks. But we started playing and sure enough we all started talking up a storm while playing the game. Even though it was one peson at a time "playing", everyone was waiting for the result! There was alot of chatter (teenagers), then they'd reveal their scribble and you heard "Wow", "I didn't even see that", "That's amazing". And even the people who weren't the artists of the group were having a great time and didn't feel under pressure. I think the most memorable part, other than the French Pianist always seeing musical instruments, was the laughter, the bonding, and the great friends I made that day with Scribbles. - Leigh

I'll try to find the scribbles from that day. I might have them still. If not I'll post some from my high school days. It's a great way to pass the class right along.

THE BOOK

From Leigh:

The book is finally completed and in our hands. It's been a long road and re-writing after a break of not looking at it. I definitely recommend putting something down you're working on and revisiting it even just a week later. You'll look at it with different eyes.

So a quick intro to the book. It's more than a book, it's a way to get an entire group of people laughing, having fun, and just spending time together.

I grew up playing "Scribbles" and it's such a simple concept. My dad, Wayne (co-author), invented this game with his brother trying to find ways to entertain themselves. And it worked!

I'll post a picture of the cover soon. I can't believe it's finally D-O-N-E. To order your copy please email us. scribblesbook@gmail.com with your Name, Address, and how you would like to pay. We accept money orders, and pay-pal. Please spread the word like butter!
